Merry & Bright! New Christmas & Winter Items

New items added and more to come….mm

I have added some new holiday items to my Etsy shop that I hope you will like. I have more to come but I still have to take pictures.
These will make great stocking stuffers and ship for free (US).
I worried that I might be too early for Christmas shoppers but some have actually already sold (yay!).
Some of he necklaces also make great gifts for Hanukkah or just to celebrate a winter holiday as they are winter themes such as bells and snowflakes.
I’m also working on a new outfit that I should have finished soon so come back again please!

There are so many ways to make fun accessories for your dolls!

Remember this Tulle & Pearl necklace tutorial? That was a fun necklace to make.

Today I want to show you 3 other accessories that you can make for your dolls. First, this cute bracelet is made with very small buttons. Mix & match colors, do a rainbow, or how about the popular ombre color method? Get the how-to from American Girl Fan

Here’s a video tutorial for making these rubber band loom bracelets that are SOOOO popular. My little Pussycat (what I call Miss M) loves to make these things! Note that the video is actually a how-to for making a doll rubber band bracelet loom, but at about 1:20 into the video, she shows you how to make this bracelet using the doll’s fingers!!! That’s right! Mmm hmm.

So will you give these a try? Know of some other cute doll jewelry tutorials? Share! (Thanks)

Pearl & Tulle Doll Necklace Tutorial

doll necklaceI made this necklace and thought I would share with you how I made it. So here’s the tutorial in pictures:

Doll necklaceSupplies:

  • Tulle
  • Beading elastic
  • Needle & thread to match tulle
  • Scissors
  • Small pearls
  • Template for circle (I used a nickel)
  • Dot of glue (not shown)

Using your circle template, cut circles from the tulle. Yodoll necklacedoll necklaceu can cut as many as you want; I used 7 pieces.

Next, we’re going to scrunch up the center of the circles. You can do this one of two ways: either just grab the center and twist, or fold the circle in half lengthwise, then in half again widthwise (is that a word?). What you want is to have a little “head” on your circle like in the picture below.doll necklace

Next, run your needle and thread through the head, bring your needle around and run it back through again. Then twist your thread around the “neck” of the head a couple of times. Run your thread back through the head/neck, then trim your thread close to the head.doll necklace

Once you’ve done this to all of the tulle circles, you simply thread the pearls and tulle onto the beading elastic. If you jiggle it, the elastic will go right through; no needle necessary for this part.

I used about 11″ of elastic and started with 9 or 10 pearls, then alternated a pearl, tulle, pearl, tulle, etc. After the last piece of tulle, I added another 9 or 10 pearls.

doll necklaceWhen you’re done, try the necklace on your doll so that it hangs where you want it in the front. Then tie a knot in the elastic at the back. I like to dab a dab of glue onto the knot so it stays put. Let the glue dry completely. The necklace should fit over the doll’s head, so it’s easy to take on and off.

pearl and tulle doll necklaceHope this makes sense. This is my first tutorial, so let me know if I left anything out or if you have questions. You can use other beads in place of the pearls and you can use fabric in place of the tulle. If you make one, please send me a picture!
